Top 10 Emerging Influential Bloggers for 2009
Here are my personal choices based on the qualifications posted here.
1. Delamar - After much prodding, the RX DJ and partner of Chico Garcia has a blog. See her muse her thoughts.
2. Gelli Victor - See her muse her own happiness. She is the partner of Jude Rocha of the Ride this morning. And see her on Motoring Today, too.
3. Lilystars Records - This Record Label features the Camerawalls. OPM will never die with people like Clem advocating the local artist.
4. Kit Briones - She has a plan. To blog about anything green. It's her favorite color. If you have any suggestions, let her know.
5. RC and Cess - These 2-in-1 bloggers muse about their lives and as Rushers. They also do call in at times to provide good tidbits when they are on air on All-Access.
6. Toti Dalmacion - Toti D IS Terno Recordings. Maybe the King of Indie Labels.
7 - 9. Armi, Carlos, Pol - they, plus Ean, are 3/4ths of Up Dharma Down. One of the best bands in the country. Their music is unique and fun.
10. Sparty and Friends - A group of commenters become dissatisfied with one blogger's line of thinking, decided to spin off from the commenters' blog and set up one of their own. This is the only non-Filipino blog.
And of course, this will not be possible without the wonders of...

MTV Exit tomorrow....

The hallowed concert grounds of the SM Mall of Asia will be host to the spectacle that is MTV Exit. Bands performing include Christian Bautista, Gary Valenciano, Bamboo, Pochoy Labog (of Dictalicense), Spongecola, Kjwan, Callalily, Pupil, Duster, Kitchie Nadal, Itchyworms, Kamikazee, Rico Blanco, Moymoy Palaboy and Parokya ni Edgar, and it will be hosted by the lovely Kat Alano and Epy Quizon.
So what is MTV Exit?
It is a campaign aimed on raising awareness on the issue of human trafficking and preventing it from being prevalent in our society. It is important as majority of the 2.5 million victims come from the Asia-Pacific region, the same victims who only want to live and experience a better life for themselves and for their families.
The MTV Exit campaign originated in Europe in 2004 and expanded in 2007 to Asia. 2009 marks the first foray of the movement in the Philippines. This effort is backed by the Visayan Forum Foundation, Inc.
If you are interested on going, here is how you can get tickets:
1. Go to
www.Mtvphil.com for details
2. Go to any MTV Exit Redemption Booth in the Mall of Asia tomorrow between 10am-5pm.
3. Go to the venue itself.
4. Go to the VFF Office (No. 18, 12th Ave., Brgy. Socorro, Cubao, QC 1109)
5. Call MTV Philippines (706-1580)
We can make a difference.

end of blog sabbatical
it has been 5 days since i last checked my multiply. how come? why that long? i guess i took my sweet time checking them. i have a lot of things stacked up and i just want to get things straightened and cleared.
i spent three days in the hinterlands. then two days figuring out my current employment status and trying to resolve it.
i missed out a lot of things and events. and there is a tendency to feel withdrawn and out of whack. so, i took a few days to be ready and firing, so to speak.
due to the delays, i had to move back the posts i wanted to do. good thing i already got the playboy stuff up already. i still need to put up with a few other things. expect a lot of stuff until the end of the week.
***
two things:
a. i am sick and tired of grandstanding by our political officials on issues that are not of utmost priority.
b. will people ever really take a joke....

Playboy May 2009 Issue

This month, the Playboy May 2009 issue pays tribute to the Philippines. Aiza Marquez is the cover girl with a homage to an Amorsolo classic, Portrait of a Filipina. This month's Playmate Suan Javinez shows us the ideal look of a flight attendant. Tourism Secretary Ace Durano holds court in 20 Questions, while Seth Rogen is featured on the Playboy interview.
This issue also covers special events that took place from the anniversary, especially its Birthday Party at the Coconut Palace. Other important aspects of the Philippines like its unknown heroes, key destinations and Arnis are covered as well.
Two special events are highlighted this issue. The Fiction Writing Contest deadline I previously discussed before has been extended to June 15. On May 30, it will be the Playboy Dodgeball Tournament @ Club 650.
And yes, the issue is already out on the market. Buy it.
P.S. If you have the issue, check page 106 and 111.
Here is a parting shot.

the agenda before Batulao
the end of the week will be the time when i will be at the Salesians in Batulao with a special group of people.
so, let me put up some interesting stuff:
1. i will need to finish uploading two videos and at least three blogs (one about iBlog, as i promised janette t., another about Playboy for May, as i promised to Jeman, and others)
2. lots of gimik opportunities. The Low-Techs on the 13th will be on their bar tour for their new album (this will be @ Mag:net Boni Hi), Moonstar88 will be at Saguijo on the said date. Tomorrow,
Kel will be making his 1st foray into standup @ Toyz Cafe in Legaspi Village.
3. the 15th of May is HUGE. events left and right. two in Eastwood, one in Makati, one in the Block for your wifi (check
Az for details).
4. Today is exactly one year away from the 2010 elections. lets help each other safeguard it for our country's sake. One way is to join http://botomoipatrolmo.multiply.com. That campaign was very successful, so let's do it again. ANC will be doing its leadership forum that i am so dying to go.
5. Voting is ongoing
here for the Radio Music Awards. (composed of Jam, Wave, Magic, RT, Maxville and the KillerBee Stations a.k.a. the Radio Cartel). we can vote for the people's choice award. Sitti is one of the nominees, so i encourage, not force you to vote her in. You can vote for multiple names...
That will be all. God bless me.

Just another mini-tidbit
As the hours tick closer to what I visualize and cool, I guess the belief that you can be right about your personal assessment of someone. Just like statistics, it can be manipulated to suit your own biases and needs.
And the adage will always be true, no matter how hard you try to make good, if the other side could care less, what is the point?

Ako Mismo... ay magiging mapagmatyag sa aking responsibilidad bilang isang blogger.
I think everybody is much ado over the Ako Mismo campaign. Everybody is fussing over them since their appearance in the Ricky Hatton demolition. Their cryptic tendencies pretty much came to the fore with the multiply posts that sprouted regarding the possibility of this being used by other leaders. You must have read it already.
Apparently, it struck a nerve with Maxene Magalona, who wisely posted a note on her Facebook page. I am going to copy the post in full.
First of all, before I accepted this project, we made sure that this had nothing to do with political campaigns. And we were assured that it wasn't. I am shocked that people actually see this advocacy as something negative and corrupt. Instead of people seeing it as an improved way of the Filipino life, they choose to find something wrong with it. Sayang yung project. Regardless if you receive campaign emails or not, it is up to you to decide on what to do. In a way, this campaign is also encouraging people, especially the younger generation, to register and VOTE. Just like the "Don't Vote" campaign in the US, the Ako Mismo org hopes to help in increasing the number of voters. We musn't be apathetic. These kinds of people are actually what make the Philippines seem like a hopeless country. I mean, here is this movement, actually trying to make a difference in the Filipinos (since change begins with oneself) and instead of believing in it, there are some people who choose to put it down. I know that our country hasn't been improving much but come on, we can't just give up. We HAVE to take a stand. As the commercial says, poverty, inadequate education and insufficient jobs are not the main problems we are currently experiencing. The biggest problem that the Philippines is suffering from is its people's loss of hope. I thought that this ad would actually encourage the Filipinos to begin changing themselves by deciding not to give up. But now I can see that it isn't enough. And honestly, I don't think that anything will ever be good enough for the Filipinos. MASYADONG MARAMING REKLAMO. Nakakapagod na. Oh well. I just really hope that you guys could give our country a chance. Wag tayo mawawalan ng pag-asa. :)P.S. Smart denied these allegations. They simply pay for spots so that the ad would air. And with the billions of money SMART-PLDT makes, why would they need to make money out of this campaign? Tsk tsk. This is nothing but a SINCERE project of DDB. What's in it for them, you ask? The improvement their ad makes in the Filipinos. The way they encourage the Filipinos to CHANGE. That's worth MORE than billions and gazillions of money. Check out their site here. As you can see, lagi sila gumagawa ng advocacies. GANUN TALAGA SILA. Hard to believe? Kasi ang Pinoy kailangan laging may kapalit.
The comments from it convinced me (because i was a bit skeptical at first) to finally register. I trust a fellow member of The Ateneo community. My Blog title is my first commitment to Ako Mismo.
Now one query: what makes it different from One Tama? They have a similar advocacy.
***
You know, i felt na parang tinatamad ako... That I cannot expound my thoughts properly and consistently. Maybe this would allow myself to recommit to fully expressing normal thoughts. Because i can write posts with a point.
***
I cannot wait for iBlog5 this Saturday.

a weekend for labor

must be one of those weird mood swings again, but i felt good. maybe this is because of good people who made your day, like this person right here...
you think work will fully ruin my mood? well, sometimes it won't work. :)
i had a great past few days. friday brought free food at home (happy fiesta) and at work (another baconator bites the dust).
saturday brought sabrina at the podium, a bday party at valle verde (which is a very far walk from podium) and ninja kiss (hi to bonsai).
sunday was well, something for the pac-man.
i was really tired and it was something no mere mortal can overcome.
i hope this week brings more tidings. btw, here are some additional tidbits.

this is the afternoon woodies (from L to Right) Jolly (of songoftheweek,multiply.com fame), Mike (the teddy bear), EJ (media reviewer for jumpstart) and Gino (http://www.twitter.com/ginoboi)

that is my only pic of the may day invasion. (again reflective of my prevailing mood)

last picture before leaving.
